Clay paint

Area of application

Warm white interior paint for walls and ceilings.

Preparation

For mineral substrates (such as clay, gypsum, lime and cement plaster, masonry and concrete), woodchip wallpaper and paintable wall coverings, mineral paint fleece, firmly adhering and absorbent emulsion and mineral paint finishes, as well as plasterboard and other drywall panels. The surface must be dry, clean, sound, and free from dust and grease. Remove loose material, old wallpaper and poorly adhering paint from the substrate. Pre-treat highly absorbent, sandy and chalky substrates with baufan Silicate Fixative. Fill cracks, holes and uneven areas with a suitable baufan filler.

Processing

Stir well before use and apply with a roller, brush, paintbrush, flat brush or suitable spray gun. The primer can be thinned with a maximum of 10 per cent water. Once the first coat has dried thoroughly, apply the top coat undiluted. When coating larger areas, work wet-on-wet to avoid brush marks. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Drying time:
approx. 6–12 hours under normal conditions (+20 °C, 65 per cent rel. humidity, moderately absorbent substrate); under unfavourable conditions, the drying time will be correspondingly longer.

Tinting:
With a maximum of 4 per cent universal tinting concentrates (LW-Qxyd types only).

Spray pressure: 120 – 180 bar

Consumption

Smooth surfaces/fine-grained render → approx. 150 ml/m²
Determine the exact consumption by carrying out a test application on the surface.

Storage

Store the container tightly sealed in a cool place, but away from frost.

Notes

Application temperature:
+5 °C to +30 °C for the material, ambient air and substrate

Keep out of reach of children. Cover surfaces not to be painted. When spraying, use an A2/P2 combination filter. Due to the high pH value, avoid contact with the eyes and skin. It is recommended to wear gloves and safety goggles (not glass). In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. In the event of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if necessary. Ensure thorough ventilation during application and drying. Avoid eating, drinking and smoking whilst using the paint. Do not allow the product to enter the drains, watercourses or soil.

EU VOC limit value for this product (Cat.: A/a, Wb) = 30 g/l (2010). Maximum VOC content of this product: 0.5 g/l.

Disposal:
Only send completely empty containers for recycling. Dried-out material residues may be disposed of as household waste or as construction site waste. Dispose of liquid residues in accordance with waste code no. 08 01 12.
