Floor Covering and Non-woven Fixative

Area of application

Adhesive backing for PVC/CV flooring and carpets. Provides a secure hold without bubbles and can be removed later. Ideal for rented flats, even with underfloor heating and when exposed to the wear and tear caused by chair castors.

Preparation

Suitable for use on cement screed, tiles, PVC flooring, V100 chipboard, waterproof-sealed parquet and similar moisture-resistant substrates. The substrate must be clean, permanently dry, level, load-bearing and free from release agents (e.g. dust, grease and wax). For rough or uneven substrates, we recommend levelling with a floor levelling compound. Pre-treat highly absorbent, sandy and porous substrates with baufan Tiefgrund LF. The floor covering to be bonded must be acclimatised, laid flat and free from tension.

Processing

Lay out the floor covering, cut it to size roughly and fold it back halfway. Apply the adhesive to the subfloor using a short-pile roller or a notched trowel (A2 notching). Once the required flash-off time has elapsed, lay the covering in place and press it down evenly. For absorbent subfloors or vapour-permeable floor coverings, the flash-off time is approx. 15 minutes; when laying impermeable floor coverings (e.g. PVC) on non-absorbent subfloors, a flash-off time of at least 30 minutes must be observed. Fix the second half of the floor covering in the same way. Weight down edges and joints if necessary.

Remove any residue from the fixing process with clean water. Clean tools with clean water immediately after use.

The drying time depends on the application temperature. Relative humidity above 90 per cent, particularly in combination with low temperatures, can significantly affect the drying time and the quality characteristics.

Removing the flooring at a later date:
After the covering has been removed at a later date, any adhesive residue can be removed using water and baufan wallpaper remover. Allow the solution to work for approx. 15 minutes, scrape off the residue with a plastic scraper and rinse thoroughly with water.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a cool but frost-free place.

The flooring manufacturers’ installation guidelines must be strictly observed. Keep out of reach of children. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying. Avoid eating, drinking and smoking whilst using the adhesive. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. In case of contact with the eyes or skin, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water. Do not allow the product to enter the mains drainage system, watercourses or the ground.

Disposal:
Only send completely empty containers for recycling. Dried-out material residues may be disposed of as household waste or as construction site waste. Dispose of liquid residues in accordance with waste code No. 08 04 10.
