The substrate should be dry, sound and free from dust and grease. Highly absorbent, sandy or chalky surfaces must first be primed with baufan Tiefgrund LF.
Hole and crack filler is handy when you need to repair small areas of wall quickly and neatly. The filler comes straight out of the tube, can be applied with precision and, once smoothed, creates a level surface for subsequent work. At the same time, the result and coverage depend on the substrate, the thickness of the coat and the drying time.
Step 1
Before carrying out repairs, check what type of damage is present. Old drill holes, dowel holes, screw holes and small cracks can usually be effectively filled using drill hole and crack filler. In the case of recurring or active cracks, the cause should first be identified to ensure the repair is permanent.
Step 2
The substrate must be dry, sound, and free from dust and grease. Loose particles must be removed. Highly absorbent, sandy or chalky surfaces should be primed beforehand with baufan Tiefgrund LF. Before use, knead the tube thoroughly so that the filler can be applied evenly.
Step 3
The filler is squeezed directly from the tube into the drill hole, crack or damaged area. The damaged area should be filled completely so that no voids remain. For deeper areas, it is advisable to apply several layers. Once dry, a second coat can be applied.
Step 4
Once applied, the surface is smoothed with a filling knife. On textured surfaces such as woodchip wallpaper, the repaired area can be slightly adjusted to match the existing surface if necessary. For damaged wood-grain wallpaper, the baufan wood-grain repair filler is ideal, as its texture matches that of the wood-grain finish.
Step 5
The repair filler must be completely dry before sanding, painting or coating. The drying time depends on the thickness of the coat, the substrate, the temperature and the humidity. Drying may take longer with thicker applications or on substrates that are not very absorbent.
Step 6
Once completely dry, the surface can be lightly sanded if necessary and then painted, wallpapered or coated. Partially used tubes should be sealed tightly and stored in a cool, frost-free place out of the reach of children.
