Potassium Water Glass

Area of application

Potassium silicate solution for consolidating mineral substrates and regulating absorbency. Ideal for preparing substrates for silicate paints.

Preparation

For all mineral substrates such as concrete, masonry, levelling compounds, cement and lime plaster. Remove old, poorly adhering coats of paint and loose plaster.

Processing

Apply potash water glass using a brush or a suitable sprayer (when spraying, do not inhale the spray mist). Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, potash water glass can be diluted with water up to a ratio of 1:3 (use the diluted solution immediately). Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Drying time:
approx. 6 hours under normal conditions (+20 °C, 65% relative humidity, moderately absorbent substrate); drying time will be correspondingly longer under unfavourable conditions.

Consumption

Depending on the substrate → from 100 - 200 ml/m² Determine the exact amount used by applying a test coat to the object.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a cool but frost-free place.

Notes

Application temperature:
At least +5 °C for the material, ambient air and substrate.

Keep out of reach of children. Cover surfaces not to be treated with plastic sheeting. Avoid splashes on glass, aluminium, ceramics, marble and similar materials. Remove accidental splashes immediately with water. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying. Avoid eating, drinking and smoking whilst using the product. Do not allow the product to enter the sewerage system, watercourses or the ground.

baufan Potassium Water Glass is not suitable for use as a top coat on visible surfaces.
