Area of application
Cellulose paste for light and standard wallpapers.
Preparation
The substrate must be sound, dry, uniformly absorbent, smooth and clean. Remove any old paint and wallpaper. Fill cracks, holes and uneven areas with a suitable baufan filler. Consolidate sandy and chalky substrates with baufan Tiefgrund LF. Apply a base coat to highly absorbent substrates or prime them as well. Apply a primer coat of baufan Zell-Makulatur to coarse-grained plaster.
Processing
For standard paper wallpaper, gradually sprinkle 200 g of baufan wallpaper paste into 5 l of cold, clean water whilst stirring vigorously, and continue stirring for a short while. For hanging heavy wallpaper, use 4 litres of water for 200 g of wallpaper paste. After 30 minutes, stir the mixture vigorously once more. Once the soaking time has elapsed, further dilution is possible depending on the quality of the wallpaper. Apply the wallpaper paste evenly to the back of the wallpaper using a pasting machine or a brush, fold the strip of wallpaper and hang it after allowing the prescribed soaking time in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Remove any residue of wallpaper paste with a damp cloth. Clean tools with clean water after use.
For wallpapering on primed surfaces, add 20% baufan latex binder to the fully mixed wallpaper paste (750 g latex binder per 200 g batch of wallpaper paste). Adding 20% baufan latex binder is also recommended to increase moisture resistance and when working on critical substrates (e.g. fresh cement render).
Consumption
Approx. 200 ml of the prepared wallpaper paste per m² – depending on the surface.
Storage
Store containers tightly sealed and in a dry place.
