Technical information sheet

Area of application

Dispersion adhesive for PVC and CV floor coverings, carpets and needle-punched felt. For indoor use; suitable for underfloor heating and withstands the weight of chair castors.

Preparation

Suitable for use on cement screed, concrete, tiles, cement-based fillers and levelling compounds, PVC floor coverings, V100 chipboard and similar moisture-resistant substrates. The substrate must be clean, permanently dry, level, load-bearing and free from release agents (e.g. dust, grease and wax). For rough or uneven substrates, we recommend levelling with a floor levelling compound. Pre-treat highly absorbent, sandy and porous substrates with baufan Tiefgrund LF. The floor covering to be installed must be acclimatised, laid flat and free from tension.

Processing

Stir well before use and apply to the substrate using a notched trowel. Notch size A2 (1.5–1.8 mm) for PVC and carpets with foam backing. Notch size B2 (2.1–2.9 mm) for carpets with non-woven, textile and jute backing.

► Wet bonding: For absorbent subfloors or vapour-permeable floor coverings, lay the floor covering after a flash-off time of 15–30 minutes and press down evenly.

► Adhesive bonding: When bonding impermeable floor coverings (e.g. PVC) to non-absorbent or only slightly absorbent subfloors, it is essential to ensure that a sufficient flash-off time is observed. Apply the adhesive to the subfloor using a notched trowel and allow it to dry. Depending on the room temperature, humidity and absorbency of the substrate, the flash-off time may be several hours. The floor covering can be laid once the adhesive has formed a skin and no longer feels sticky to the touch but is still elastic.

Remove any adhesive residue immediately with clean water. Clean tools with clean water immediately after use.

The drying time depends on the application temperature. Relative humidity above 90 per cent, particularly in combination with low temperatures, can significantly affect the drying time and the quality characteristics.

The flooring manufacturers’ installation guidelines must be strictly observed. PVC floor coverings can be welded after approximately 24 hours.

Consumption

for A2 tooth pattern → approx. 200–300 g/m²
for B2 tooth pattern → approx. 350–450 g/m²
